About

“He made from one man every nation of humankind .  . . that they would seek God . . . for in Him we live, move and have our being . . .” (Acts 17:26-28).

There is no greater purpose in life than pursuing God and his Messiah, Jesus. Pursuing God means intentionally seeking to know and love him. In knowing God, we come to understand all he has called us to be in this world. Being a Christian is not just an intellectual assent to a theological idea; it is a way of life. This blog exists to encourage the pursuit of God.

The Blogger: Karen Keen is currently working on her Th.M at Duke University’s Divinity School (a one year post-graduate degree in theology). She hopes to go on for a Ph.D. in biblical/theological studies. Karen has a particular interest in how theology intersects with culture. One of her research specialties, and the topic of this blog, is the crossroads of sexual identity, gender and faith. She is also interested in social justice, Sustained Dialogue and reconciliation.

While working in Student Affairs at the University of California, Santa Cruz, she founded Campus Ministries Fellowship to unite campus Christian clubs in prayer and collaborative outreach.  During this time, through active involvement with the local chapter of Veritas Forum, she organized student dialogue on topics of faith and culture, including Palestinian/Israeli reconciliation.

Karen is a freelance writer and an occasional speaker. She has taught on various topics including sexual identity, the practice of prayer, eschatology, and the disability rights movement. She has a M.S. in education (counseling) from Western Oregon University and a MA in exegetical theology from Western Seminary.

In her free-time, Karen enjoys hiking in the redwoods, reading, watching documentaries, spending time with friends and participating in the house church Gathering By the Bay. Click here to read her story. Contact: PursuingGod@aol.com
