1. Warren Throckmorton is posting an excellent series on Scott Lively, an ultra-conservative who claims gays are responsible for the Nazi holocaust. Based on his distorted view of history, Lively has made it his life mission to warn Christian audiences around the world that GLBT people are masterminding a sinister and hostile takeover, which will eventually lead to world destruction. It might be tempting to shrug off Lively as outlandish and not worth our time. But, do not underestimate the damage Lively is capable of inflicting. After he spoke at a Christian conference in Uganda a few months ago, it led to renewed witch-hunts of gays and lesbians. One account reported that a 17 year old boy was recently sentenced to life imprisonment by the Ugandan government for being gay. Please take the time to read Throckmorton’s discussion and consider how you can counteract this harmful propaganda:
- May 31 – Eliminating homosexuality: Modern Uganda and Nazi Germany
- June 3 – Before The Pink Swastika
- June 4 – Kevin Abrams: The side of The Pink Swastika
- June 8 – A historian’s analysis of The Pink Swastika, part 1
- June 9 – A historian’s analysis of The Pink Swastika, part 2
2. Wesley Hill is a 20-something graduate of Wheaton College (B.S.), the University of Durham, U.K (M.A.), and a soon-to-be doctoral student in New Testament studies. He is also a celibate gay man. I had never heard of Wesley until a few months ago when I stumbled across one of his articles. So far, I enjoy his intelligent discussion of the subject. He doesn’t seem caught in the usual clichés. Check out two of his articles ‘A Few of You’: Will the Church be the Church for Homosexual Christians? and Elevating the Conversation? Keep an eye on Wesley Hill—I expect we will be hearing more from him in the future.
3. In case you haven’t heard, New Direction, the ministry responsible for the Bridging the Gap project is hosting a Synchroblog on Wednesday, June 24th. Blog authors will simultaneously post articles that day on the subject of building bridges between the Church and the GLBT community. Over forty participants from a variety of persuasions have already signed up, including a few notables like Donald Miller, Tony Jones, Warren Throckmorton, David Roberts and Justin Lee. I am also planning to participate. For more information on how you can get involved, or to simply view the list of authors, click here. It will make for plenty of interesting and, hopefully, mindful reading. Mark your calendar for June 24th.
4. Recently, a 21 year old man, Will C, e-mailed me to let me know he appreciated my blog. Will is a Christian with same-gender attraction and has decided to join us in cyberspace by launching his first blog ever in order to share his own story with us. Check out his site and give him a warm hello.
5. I like Sy Rogers. He is a dynamic speaker who has spent his life as a pastor to those walking through difficult sexual struggles (both gay and straight). He has new videos up on YouTube now, including this one. Here’s some food for thought from Sy:

hey Karen, thanks for some great information. I was shocked to hear about this Scott Lively, I will definately do some more reading about it on Warren’s website.
I just read Wesley’s review of ‘Love is an Orientation’ last week on Christianity Today and I was really impressed with what he had to say. After reading the article I clicked to a link for his article about the church & homosexuality and was equally impressed with that one too. Lots of food for thought.
I have marked my calendar for the synchroblog but will probably just do mostly reading as I have way too many friends on FB who do not know about my SSA……….yet. : )
And yes, I am a huge fan of Sy Rogers!!! I have heard him speak on numerous occasions and have personally met him. He is such a phenomenal speaker and communicator and he is extremely intelligent. I could sit and listen to him all day! I have 2 of his teaching series on CD’s and a DVD and I never tire of listening and watching them.
Speaking of DVD’s, I just ordered the DVD ‘Bridging the Gap’ so I can’t wait till it arrives in the mail. Have you seen it yet? My plan is to eventually share it with some on leadership at my church and see where it goes from there.

I ordered it through Amazon and right now they are out of stock or Amazon is still waiting for them to send stock of the DVD?? I’m hoping it arrives soon as I have a meeting scheduled with my singles leader and another person on staff at my church in 2 weeks and my hope is to let them borrow the DVD to preview and give their feedback. Yes I will go check out your review of ‘Bridging the Gap’, thanks!
